One factor that influences our decision less when traveling, is the state of health in which we find ourselves, because this is the lack of promotion by the health authorities and tourism on the importance that this represents.

While it is true that often the change of the environment that surrounds us every day (which gradually affects our health) is an advantage both for tourism and for our health. Most tourists do not seek information about the health hazards associated with travel, so do not take proper precautions after consequences are severe.

It can fulfill the fantasy of rest, entertainment and health care. Health tourism offers places where health and wellness merge creating for its visitors a sense of balance.

Some of the elements that offers health tourism to increase the health status during the holidays are:

* Hydrotherapy

* Spa services

* Therapies flavoring

* Wide range of body massages

* Facial Massage

* Special Nutrition Programs

* Yoga and meditation

* High-tech Gyms life-fitness

The above services are designed to help you along with your partner enjoy the best vacation of your life, so there is no excuse to liven up.

Effects on the host population

The main impacts of tourism on host countries are:

* STDs. The tourists when traveling to adopt different behaviors have in your home. Sex is more risky and sometimes practice becomes even illegal, this situation arises with a source of employment for men and women representing a growing exploitation of children and young adolescents.

* Alcohol abuse. During these trips are more alcoholic drinks which can cause serious accidents.

* Use of drugs. When traveling our behavior change can cause fatal risks not only for us but also for the people around us.

* Ecological deterioration. Often tourists do not respect the places they visit and are devoted to destruction because in the end they will not stay long on that site, this factor results in losses instead of profits for the place they visit as with his actions only serve to pollute the environment and damage the ecosystem.

* Importing cultural values of other countries. It is normal that tourists do not adapt to the way of life of the residents and try to change their traditions and customs to not feel out of place, no clutch, ideally, learn and respect aspects of a different culture.

* Security. Generally tourists are seen as threats because the majority of the year and you enjoy some peace and quiet in the moment visitors arrive consider that this situation has a negative influence on the confidence with which you live. Considering this situation, not normally think of the positive as foreign income, job growth, improving local infrastructure and services and environmental health, among others.

The above situations can be avoided through simple solutions include the following:

* Lobby for national policies to protect children and adolescents from sexual exploitation.

* Develop specific measures to prevent the abuse of alcohol and drugs.

* Protect the ecosystem and the environment to maintain land, sea and air cleaner.

* To promote our values, traditions and habits that are part of our culture, through dialogue between health personnel and specific population groups in order to foster environments and lifestyles and our customs, heritage and conduct are prevail the next century.

Health Implications (tourists)

Tourists can lodge complaints about their health at the beginning of the journey, as the delay time begins or dizziness, these complaints do not usually present health risk, only for those elderly and who already have health problems.

They usually focus on diarrhea caused by parasites, bacteria or a virus, it is primarily associated with the consumption of contaminated food or water, do not exempt pool waters and coastal waters, which are sometimes associated with infections gastrointestinal, respiratory and skin.

The consumption of contaminated seafood is associated with the spread of hepatitis A, this is due to the presence of high concentrations of toxins produced by water ciguatera, is ah lately spoken of a respiratory disorder where involving a bacterium called Legionella pneumophila and that Living mainly in water systems and air conditioning for hotels and especially indoors.

There are other potential health risks, but of these only those tourists are exposed unimmunized, best known microbes are amoebas, and are related to the consumption of water and food in unsanitary conditions. Another group of health risks for tourists are those transmitted by vectors such as mosquitoes, ticks, lice, fleas, etc.. Examples of these risks are diseases of malaria, dengue, yellow fever, and these are the conditions that are diagnosed with some frequency.

The responsibility for the health of tourists not only that local authorities but also potential tourists, for it is r should get as much information as possible about the destination. As have most recommended vaccines: typhoid fever vaccine, hepatitis B, polio and rabies.

While recognizing the potential health risks involving travel and tourism, fortunately has a lot of ways to eliminate or reduce these risks by applying well-known methods for handling food and environmental sanitation . This requires a concerted effort by local authorities and potential travelers. Another important factor is health education and health promotion, and environmental hygiene are essential to appropriate attitudes and behaviors.

In general, we have that in a healthy environment is a seal of quality for tourists, the environment is an important determinant of the health of tourists and that a properly maintained environment will not only attract visitors, if not represents an effective way to maintain health.

TOURISM for health reasons.

Undoubtedly tourism is closely linked with the issue of health. Has long recognized the relationship between health and tourism, therefore also considered potential health risks, due to travel, arising from contact between visitors barrel environment and host population.

Health issues related to travel and tourism has fostered strong working links between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Tourism Organization (WTO), with the collaboration of other organizations such as the Organization of American (OAS).

WHO has established criteria and guidelines for the quality of drinking water and water for recreation, food service in airplanes and for publishing texts and sanitation guide tourist establishments and guidance for health and safety in air transport.

Given that people travel for different reasons: business, cultural enrichment conferences, visiting friends, we reason oldest and most common health tourism.

Travel is synonymous with liberation, in addition to World Tourism Meeting 1983 established the right to rest as a natural consequence of the right to work. In this context, tourism satisfies the basic human need to regain mental and physical wellbeing.

Following mentioned in the previous paragraph, has grown the popularity of health centers and spas as vacation spots, this is another indication that mediates the relationship between health and tourism, this is called ” teraputico2 tourism. lot of these places leisure associated with professional care to lose weight, gain good physical condition, as well as programs aimed at rehabilitation and treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism.

Often these medical services are part of a tour package available resources and special accommodation for these purposes.

In addition, tourists can feel the health impacts early trip, lag times or dizziness, that while these inconveniences are not serious health if they cause discomfort.

Usually more attention to diarrhea, associated with consumption of contaminated food or water, as well as respiratory infections, gastrointestinal and skin.

In recent years they have become highly visible outbreaks of Legionnaires’ disease, especially respiratory disorders caused by a bacterium that lives in water systems and air conditioning in hotels and other indoor environments.

Other health risks are transmitted by vectors, such as mosquitoes, ticks, lice, fleas and mites.

Malaria, dengue, yellow fever and Lyme disease are vector-borne diseases that are diagnosed with some frequency in the tourists.

It is valid to say that the environment is an important determinant of the health of tourists and keeping it properly not only attracts visitors, but is a very effective measure to protect your health.

The responsibility for the health of the tourist lies not only in the local authorities, but also potential tourists who must learn about the destination, so that together with travelers authorities employ environmental sanitation and medical prevention.

Currently sexually transmitted diseases and ecological deterioration as a result of tourism are the main concerns in this area.

As previously mentioned health tourism more generally below the sub concretaremos us: tourism for health reasons.

People travel for various reasons, but nevertheless, the main and oldest is to take comfort and feel healthy.

Tourism satisfies the basic human need to regain mental and physical wellbeing.

Traditionally for health tourism or medical tourism was related to leisure tourism, combining the pleasure trip to the attention of health problems. Usually link to social layers of high economic capacity and the flow of tourists was underdeveloped countries to developed countries, and between developed together.

Although this trend persists, (an estimated 2% of visitors to the United States of America do for health reasons) the rise in health care costs in developed countries, coinciding with the development of health services of some developing countries at a lower cost, makes this traditional tendency to store your investment, some countries in the region such as Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina are starting in this activity. Cuba has developed this type of tourism offering medical services to patients in Latin America and the Caribbean and to a lesser extent in Europe and North America to offer some novel and effective treatments for some diseases and generally lower costs to the countries of origin patients. In recent years, the spread of health tourism in underdeveloped countries of origin has led to relatively modest economic access to treatments that require technology and the costs of which are inaccessible to them in developing countries.

Another form of health tourism is produced as a result of collaboration between countries with or without the participation of international organizations. The exchange of patient medical samples to be processed, and the training and development of human resources, are increasingly important aspects of this activity.

The flow of health professionals, particularly doctors in underdeveloped countries of Latin America to the United States, it was common practice until a few decades ago. Although this trend has diminished, still persists in the case of nurses and paramedics.

Studies conducted by PAHO / WHO in several countries in the region, demonstrate awareness in public and private sectors about the need to develop health tourism deals with strategies and action plans that provide access to the international market.

Restrictions in national legislation, the lack of reliable statistics on the activity, limited opportunities for participation from the public to restrict the use of resources for the population, the lack of financial resources for the modernization of equipment and the lack of private sector financing, are some of the limiting factors that influence the development of this activity

Tourism is no longer seen as a privilege or a luxury, but a basic right to regain mental and physical wellbeing, restoring the ability to lead an active life. While tourism is motivated by the desire to get healthy, is not without risks to health itself. Tourism can affect the health of not only tourists, but also the communities that receive them. However, most of these risks can be avoided or reduced by means of environmental hygiene, health promotion and disease prevention.
